FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Surf’s up this November on AXN! Last season’s cliffhanger finale had the Hawaii Five-0 team more divided than it had ever been before, with Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) taken into custody by Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim) and Kono (Grace Park) under investigation by Internal Affairs for some $200,000 that went missing. That leaves Danny (Scott Caan) to clean up the mess and clear McGarrett’s name, at a great cost to his personal life!
Ripples were set off last season when the Governor’s assistant was killed in a car bomb, but not before she sent out crucial evidence from the senior McGarrett’s (William Sadler) investigation of Governor Pat Jameson (Jean Smart), who proved to be in cahoots with villain Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos). Framed for her death, McGarrett sought to extract a confession from Governor Jameson, but ended being set up for a second murder by the backstabbing Wo Fat. Once the biggest champion of the Hawaii Five-0 team, Governor Jameson had granted them full immunity but that turned out to be a façade for keeping a close eye on McGarrett and what he might unearth from his late father’s investigations.
The team-splintering finale was written with Season 2’s premiere in mind, as executive producer Peter Lenkov revealed, “We had all these really strong ideas of what we wanted to do in Season 2 and a lot of it is based on how we leave them at the end of Season 1… I’m really excited because there are some major surprises – there’s one in the first episode that I’m hoping is as shocking as the governor being bad.”
Certainly, one of the big points of anticipation this season is the reunion of both Lost cast Terry O’Quinn and Daniel Dae Kim back in Hawaii. Desperate times call for desperate measures, as Danny brings in McGarrett’s former Navy Seal Commander White (O’Quinn) to save him. Having served with McGarrett’s dad in Vietnam, he might also have some answers regarding the murders of McGarrett’s parents.
Also jazzing up the stellar list of cast members is Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down), who plays the new head of Internal Affairs cracking down on the Hawaii Five-0 team; as well as Sizemore’s ex-partner, William Baldwin (Parenthood, Gossip Girl), who plays a disgraced former detective joining forces with fellow dirty cops to launch a new crime wave in Hawaii. New governor Richard T. Jones (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) is no less lenient with the Hawaii Five-0 team, and even plants a new team member played by the attractive Lauren German (A Walk to Remember, Happy Town) deigned to keep tabs on them. Who knows, sparks might just fly between her and McGarrett!
Indeed, tough times are ahead for the Hawaii Five-0 team, what with not one but two new authorities in town to breathe down their necks and a new crime wave surging forth through the whole of Hawaii. Will Kono’s name be cleared in time? Will Commander White be able to get McGarrett out of prison? Stay tuned to Hawaii Five-0 Season 2, Sundays 9PM exclusively on AXN!
